Day 35 Mon 28 Mar 11 Kinka Beach

Fierce Winds A-blowing

overcast 25 °C

Went for a drive, passed Yeppoon toward Byfield but took the turnoff to check out The Capricorn Resort. It is enormous. It has two golf courses and we saw two separate small groups of kangaroos lounging on the greens and when we came to the end if the road we saw a mated pair of Brolga with a fledgling chick. After turning around Jim pulled up and I got a couple of pictures.  Although it's still really windy it's still warmish.  I think out of the wind it would be humid.
We checked a few shops and I bought a plain blue tank top. Whilst I browsed the second hand bookstore, Jimmi had a look in the RipCurl shop and we met up for an average cup of coffee which Jim didn't finish. Looking in another boutique I watched from the outside with the boys and I took note of the saleswomen and two customers, obviously friends based on the conversation, and in noticing their clothes and shoes that I always buy serviceable clothes and shoes. Today for example I'm wearing jeans and a plain khaki three quarter length sleeve T-shirt and my new black runners.  A safe and boring outfit. I explained to Jim on the way to the car that I need a change of clothing perspective. Instead of serviceable or practical, I need some help with feminine (not frilly) stylish clothes, so new agenda.
Now off to Rocky to see about tarp clamps and extra gye ropes to help stabilize the tarps in this wind.
Into Rocky the wind didn't seem as strong being further inland.
We did some shopping around Rocky and had some lunch where we met a Finnish girl and her colleague who were fascinated with Levi and Tank. In the meantime Jim rang the caravan park we originally stayed at to see if the coffee had arrived only to find out that she told the Postie that the package wasn't for any guests because it was in my name and not his. The local Post Office couldn't get through on the phone to the Despatch Centre so they sent us down there. Highly unusual but when they found the package and we got our coffee we were extremely grateful.
Back to Kinka Beach and the waves were crashing, all the surfers were out only the waves weren't that big, just lots of them.
Still crazy windy but the new ropes and tarp clamps seem to make a difference. We were kind of congratulating ourselves just before bed when the wind really rattled the van and woke up the dogs. A big day travelling tomorrow so off to bed.
