Day 28 Mon 21 Mar 11 Hervey Bay

Last day in Scarness

semi-overcast 27 °C

Up early and no rain but the humidity is high.
Made plans for our next couple of stops and Jimmi booked for the next one at the town of Seventeen Seventy. Another Top Tourist Park, so Australiana Caravan Park where we are now were able to book it for us. No ensuite sites at the next one but thats kind of a luxury for us so we appreciate it more when we get one. Couldn't find a home for the new swag mattrss but the park said they'd take care of it. Jimmi replaced it with self inflating mattresses which are more comfortable. I tried out his sleeping bag last night but it was too hot and I struggled to get out of it during the night - Levi wasn't helping! Then it got cold and he was lying on it so I couldn't pull it up over me until about 2.30am when Jimmi woke up and took the boys out. Levi's not very helpful when he's sleepy and you want him to move. He gets a bit stubborn and he's 32kilos of dead weight!
A late breakfast at Enzos and then we went back to Activate Me (the shop with the bathing suits) to buy running shoes since they had everything from dancewear, yoga and jogging gear to runner and thongs plus swimmers.  I got a great pair of Ryka (brand designed around the womans foot and the way women run, impact zones etc).  Back to the shop where I got my dress on Saturday to buy 2 pairs of Ipanema sandals (by Gisele Bundchen). I've thrown out the pair I brought with coz I've worn the heels down and they no longer feel comfy.
Over to ARB to buy a high lift jack, recovery kit and manual winch.  We want to be prepared for the roads as we go north. Some reports are that they are pretty bad still in some areas. We should be fine in out 4WD Jeep & off-road camper although it never hurts to be prepared.
When we got back Jim went for a swim and I had a nap. He went back to ARB to see if they could mount the jack after trying to see where we could store it but after much deliberation and trying a few things out, they weren't able to mount it.
We started to sort out the caravan and put things away we're not going to use in the morning to make it a quick pack up although we don't rush coz that's when you forget things.
We decided on dinner out so we dropped into Woolworths to buy more dog food, milk and sugar.
I walked the boys to the beach (15mins) in my new joggers (great fit and really comfy) and down toward Pialba where saw all the bats (flying foxes) flocking at dusk then turned around and Jim met us at the beach to go for a fish and chip dinner even though he had a works burger!

1770 holds great memories for me as when I lived in Bundy a group of mates and I would go surfing up there . . .well at least I sat on a board anyway :) Sounds like you are getting to see a lot of the sites on the way up the coast . . .must say I am a little envious ;)
