Catching up with old friends
12.03.2011 - 12.03.2011 25 °C
Again two goals today, go out for breakfast with Jim and the boys at my friend's cafe, and drive to Tambourine Mountain to test the new fuel filter of the Jeep.
We set out early because Eric & Josh's cafe opens at 6am at the Carrara Markets and they wanted to sit down with us so said to arrive about 7.30am when the staff had all arrived and they could take time off. I did ask him about bringing the dogs and he said sure but I think he was probably doing two things at once and wasn't really listening. Our first hint was on the sign post for entering the Carrara Markets, it said "pet free zone" it was a dead give away. So I rang Eric from the car park and he and Josh came over with coffees to catch up since we couldn't bring the dogs in.
After a long chat he sent us to Bumbles Cafe on Budds Beach, Surfers Paradise. The food was great, a little expensive, I think due to the clientelle. It was a bit like the Double Bay crowd in Sydney. All a bit pretentious but highly entertaining.
Afterwards we set off for Tambourine Mountain and just before we got to the actual strret we were advised to test the Jeep, the engine warning light came on. It was already steep and winding which the conditions they wanted us to trial on, so no further need to keep going, we checked out the nearest BCF location on the iPad and headed there. After a little bit of waiting in the car, I realised Jimmi might be a while since he was looking into swags as an alternative to his doona. The boys seem to hang around in his bed most of the time and he was getting sick of all the fur. This way he could flick back the canvas and jump into bed without all the fur!
We were parked in the sun and I could see no grassy bits for the boys and I to go for a walk so we waited in the air conditioned pet store.
Back on the road I caught up on the phone with my school buddy, Meghan. We're hoping to catch up next week when she comes downs to the Gold Coast.
We had a nap on our return, it had been really hot and sticky all day. on walking up Jim said Robert & Gavin were on their way for a visit.
We got a chance to make them capuccinos and tea whilst we chatted. It wasn't until they were leaving that Jimmi mentioned we needed to go shopping, that they said Wolworths closes at 6pm and it was 10 mins to! Jimmi dashed off but missed Woolies, although the butcher just closing his doors let Jimmi in and sold him inch thick steaks - rib eye with bone on. Wow! They were great. They boys and I went on our evening constitutional.
Later Jimmi came with me when the boys and I did our last rounds pee walk before retiring. Passing the swimming pool, tennis courts and jumping bubble thing, Jimmi couldn't resist and took a turn on the jumping bubble thing. I had a hard time holding back the boys who were scrambling to join him and not peeing myself because I was laughing so hard.
